If you've been around here for awhile, you've read about my friend Geri X. {her website here // posts mentioning her here}
Geri recently put out a music video for her new song "All the Money's Gone," which will be on her upcoming album entitled "White Light." A few of my other friends helped with the album {drums & recording, bass & artwork}, and I can tell you that it is going to be an amazing album! I am pretty excited about it!
Not only is the song catchy and great, but the actual video itself is pretty cool. It's stop motion {I think that's what it's called?}, and the photographs were taken by Thomas Anomolous. He's taken some beautiful pictures of Geri, and this video is amazing. It must have taken so long to shoot all of those pictures!

First Things First & Tuesday's Tunes!
Linking up with Hallie & Halie today for First Things First!

This seems like a fun linkup to learn new things about everyone!
So:
First trip out of the country:
Canada. Like across the river from Detroit on one of many Detroit trips with my parents and sister. On our way into Canada, they stopped us because I didn't have an ID {I was like ten or eleven} and they questioned me about who I was with - like they thought my parents kidnapped me! I find this so funny since my mom and sister and I look soooo much alike. When we got into Canada, we had my uncle fax over a copy of my birth certificate in case they didn't want to let us back into the US. haha.
First major purchase on your own:
I would have to say either Luna or college. I paid for both on my eighteenth birthday!
First thing you learned how to cook:
Ummm...probably pasta or scrambled eggs or grilled cheese or something of the like!
******
and another one of my favorite linkups: Tuesdays Tunes with Les!
I've been listening to Liv Mueller's album "Liv Sings" a lot lately. My favorite song on the album is "Haunted Face," but unfortunately, I couldn't find it on YouTube (here is a preview of the song on Amazon), so here is the official video for "One More Time" which is also on the album!

Tuesday's Tunes: Whiskey & Cigarettes
{I know that many bloggers today are having a day of silence for the tragedy at Sandy Hook. I fully respect that, but sometimes I just need to write and get things out. I cannot imagine how it must be in Newton right now; I pray for peace and love for all those affected.}
~~~
Another Geri X song today.
Geri seriously changed my life back when I first met her in October of 2010. She is such a sweet, sweet lady and I am so grateful to have her as part of my life. I have no idea how different my life would be if I never had the chance to meet her, to hear her music, to see her perform, and to get to talk to her the few times I get to see her each year.
This song is called Whiskey and Cigarettes, from the album by the same title. This song really hits home hard, especially today, for me. Personally knowing both her and the person the song is about, I can really feel the pain.
I wanna be your gold slide, warm whiskey, and your favorite pack of cigarettes.
In other news, today Luna {the Volkswagen Beetle} has been in Wisconsin for two years! (:
Tuesday's Tunes: Invisible Pistols
So I may have skipped a week or two, but I'm back! Linking up with Les over at Leslyn's Lovely Life for Tuesday's Tunes!
As often as I see these two, I have only seen them perform once. I think that needs to change, because that's just not fair.
Anyway, this is PurgAtory Hill (pat mAcondald & melaniejane), also known as two of my favorite people in the wold. My favorite song of theirs was "Drinkin' or Drivin'" (side story - I just opened iTunes to see if it was "Drinkin' or Drivin'" or "Drinking or Driving" and I double clicked on the album - still not used to the new iTunes - and it started playing. haha).
Back in July of 2009, I went to a show of my dad's guitar teacher/good friend that pat happened to be playing at (and maybe melaniejane too - I can't remember) and I got them to sign the CD that I had (which was a pre-release copy - literally something that pat had burned on the computer and gave to my dad). I was so excited!! Then they were like, "you need a real copy." haha.
The first time that I got to see them perform was on September 11, 2009. I had just turned 16, and I remember the guy my dad and I bought our entry tickets from (it was a small music festival) asked if I wanted to buy drink tickets too. I was thinking "really??" I recounted that story later to pat and melanie as a cop was walking by. hahaha. I took a ton of really crappy pictures that night.
Here's one.
That girl owns the tambourine. Like, seriously. While they both have had their own successful solo careers (she plays incredible cello - look up her cover of the Beatles' "Come Together" / he is a Grammy-nominated songwriter - "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades"), I love love love both of their albums together.
Without anymore ramblings, the song I chose for today: Invisible Pistols from Invisible Pistols by PurgAtory Hill.
I just love the way he says, "I don't know!" haha.
Tuesday's Tunes: Santa Monica Dream
Linking up again this week with Les over at Leslyn's Lovely Life for Tuesday's Tunes!
This week I promise to explain the song a little bit more..
This is "Santa Monica Dream" by Angus and Julia Stone. I was introduced to their music by a coworker, because she really liked their videos and thought I might too. {The ones she showed me were "I'm Not Yours" and "Black Crow" which can also be found on YouTube.}
I think you should watch this video on YouTube by clicking here because there are some really cool notes about the video there & also the lyrics to the song.
So seeing that they had songs titled "Santa Monica Dream" and "Hollywood," I had to listen to those as well since I love California. Well, I fell in love with them both, but "Santa Monica Dream" is my favorite favorite!
Favorite Lines of the song:
"I'm somewhere, you're somewhere. I'm nowhere, you're nowhere. You're somewhere, you're somewhere. I could go there, but I don't."
"I'm singing songs about the future, wondering where you are."
"I could call you on the telephone, but do I really wanna know? You're making love now to the lady down the road, no I don't, I don't wanna know."
Santa Monica; 29 March 2011 {I'll spare you the picture of me sitting on the beach sunburned and half asleep.}
Tuesday Tunes
Seven of Spades by Geri X
Not the greatest sound quality on this video unfortunately. I love this song so much, even though it makes me sad.
This song is available on her album (EP?) "The Naked Truth" [The Bedroom Sessions Volume Two].
"I don't need you to sing to me
all your songs are memories replayed"
Linking up today! (:
