I own twenty-six black tops...

...and other random facts.
via

* I'm not really a dog person, but I love little dogs with wrinkly faces (like Boston terriers and these French bulldogs) - so cute!

*I've never baked a cake.

*Most of the pins on my Pinterest are on the recipe board... {like nearly half...}

*Things that I always will buy more of: phone cases, lip balm, scarves, stationery, nail polish, and cardigans. {this should be a post in and of itself!}

*I laugh a lot.

*I want to meet the Osbournes and Carson Kressley.

*I usually put mascara on my right eye before my left eye.

afraid

Friday, September 6: a story about a time you were very afraid

via

This one is pretty hard, because I can't think of a time that I've been very afraid. I mean, yes, there are times that I'm scared or nervous, like when I got my tattoo, or times when I have been alone at work, or taking pictures at Chateau Hutter, but there isn't like one story that sticks out where I was afraid for my life, you know?

I am going to take this to mean that I don't do enough adventurous things, and I'm going to try to step out of my comfort zone a little bit more (not that I want to be afraid!).

advice. & a giveaway!

I used to go over to my great-grandmother’s a few times a week. she was actually the person who taught me how to read, and we even shared a birthday! one of the things I remember her saying often was to finish one thing before starting the next. she was a very wise woman, and I still try to follow that advice today.

the only other advice that people have given me is super sarcastic and possibly rude, so I won't share that here! but for some advice from my mom, you can read this post.

since I started my blog one year ago today, I thought I would host a little giveaway for you! the prize is $10 PayPal cash or a gift card to the store of your choice (within reason). all entries will be verified, and are void where prohibited. good luck!

three months

if I could take three months off from my life, what would I do?

travel is, of course, the obvious answer.

but where? and why?

via

I would love to get in the car and just drive. I love this sweet idea from Kelle pictured above.

via

ideally, that trip would be along Route 66 to see all of those beautiful neon signs, and ending right up there in Santa Monica.

but at the same time there are some international locations that I would like to visit.

via

like le Chateau de Versailles in France

via

and le Jardin de Tuileries

via

and Barcelona

via

I would love to see London as well.

maybe I should just say this: I would love to visit each of the fifty states {I think I've been to twelve so far}, and I would love to see Europe and Australia and New Zealand and so many other places.

missing is just a part of moving on.

I miss a lot of things in life.

Sometimes I wish that I could go back to seventh grade and just relive it all from then on. A lot of people seem to think that seventh grade was the worst year of their life, but I think that seventh grade was the year that I really became the person that I am today. Before then, I was a stuck up little goodie-two-shoes, but being around my classmates in seventh grade, I changed. I think it was for the better.

Eighth grade changed me too. Going from a tiny Catholic school with less than a hundred students, to a public school with over a hundred students in my class was a weird transition for me. My grandma said it was a new chapter, and she is definitely right. I was in eighth grade the last time that I actually had a real conversation with one of my friends. It sucks. I did some things during high school that totally ended that relationship for good, and I really wish that I could go back and change it now (more on that in a second). I truly miss having him in my life. Not only that, but my sister moved to Alaska when I was in eighth grade, and our relationship hasn't been the same since then.

Anyway. I digress.

The point of this is to say that there are a lot of things in life that I miss, but that's just part of moving forward with life, and moving on. You can't go back in time and change or relive the past, as much as you might want to. Everything happens for a reason.

I miss a lot of people. Maybe they'll come back to my life, maybe not. The only way to find out is to keep moving forward.

Fear

I can't believe I've already made it a week of posting everyday! This is awesome! I am so thankful that Blog Every Day in May was created!

In general, my biggest fear would have to be loss. Just losing anything at all. I don't even feel that this has to be expanded on, for it's kind of self explanatory.

I also fear blood and insects, but not as much.

that is truer than true

My least favorite part about writing is coming up with the first few sentences. Whether I'm writing a blog post, or a paper for school, I just want to get to the body and skip the introduction!

I often find quotes that I like on tumblr & Pinterest. Here are some of my favorites! (:

This is probably my favorite quote ever, from my favorite Dr. Seuss book, "Happy Birthday to You!" Last summer, my birthday fell on a Thursday, which meant that I had camp in the morning with my four- and five-year-olds! We went to the Coast Guard station, and I got to read them this book during lunch.

here is the full quote (:

I'm not entirely sure where this one came from, but I really like it because I laugh. a lot.

2. Target's holiday items. can I buy them all?

3. these cookies. okay, I haven't had them, but they look amazing, and I think I'm going to make them for Thanksgiving!!

Things I Love Thursday: 8 November 2012

So I skipped the last two weeks due to crazy life. Here are some things I'm loving this week!

1. honey graham crackers with chocolate frosting. (:

found on tumblr via supkirby
2. PurgAtory Hill's new album "Invisible Pistols" - my favorite song from the album is "Shady Grove" (:

3. Halloween clearance at Target! I got some nice frames for half off, and also some candy corn (some of which is chocolate covered!).

4. White Girl Problems by Babe Walker - definitely an interesting read.

5. Christmas decorations! I know that it is only early November, but I love seeing all of the Christmas stuff being put up at Target (: I can't wait to decorate the aluminum Christmas tree at work for the holidays!

Future Dwellings

I love Pinterest. It's a great place to organize all different kinds of inspiration all together. And I think it looks pretty, too. But I dislike knowing that I can't have everything that I see there.

There are a few things that I definitely want someday when I move out.

The first is exposed brick walls. I think they are gorgeous.

(from here)

There is a coffeehouse in Green Bay, Wisconsin that pulls off this look perfectly. Kavarna Coffeehouse is, by far, the prettiest coffeehouse I've ever been to.

Another thing that I absolutely have to do is to get a big world map, and pin all of the places that I've been! :)

I want a lot of photographs on the wall, and a big kitchen. I want enough counter space so that my KitchenAid doesn't have to hide in the basement. And bookshelves! With lots of books and pretty little things!

I want a closet, with real doors. Or any kind of way to enclose it really.
