I did it all at the same time (or at least tried to) in the parking lot of the quarry. I hope I entertained some of the people who drove by!

14/52 2015

I nearly forgot to replace the filler text up here this week!

This week was Easter, and I baked some chocolate chip cookies to take to the family gathering at my grandparents' house. I might have to post the recipe on here because they were adorable.

I started watching SNL a few weeks ago, starting with the 2004-2005 season. I've now made it into fall 2008, and Seth Meyers is so adorable! I would love to meet him and Amy Poehler (the cutest pregnant lady ever). Actually, no, I would love to meet the cast for like all of the seasons that I've been watching because they are incredible.

aaaaand no transition into the pictures...

a post where Teresa kind of talks about politics

this is important.

{song and video by pat mAcdonald - Big Dumb Hotel}

I should begin this by saying that I don't really know a lot about politics, and what I know about everything going on here in Sturgeon Bay probably only scratches the surface of everything happening.

I started going to some of the meetings, and to be quite honest, it was at first only because they needed more people there and I didn't really know what was going on, but I did find it interesting. I don't know a lot about the government and I would skip voting because I didn't know anything about the candidates, so I felt that I shouldn't be voting when I didn't know the issues.

Here's the gist of what I do know about what is going on with the waterfront redevelopment in Sturgeon Bay. A vote was passed to build a hotel on the last bit of waterfront between the bridges, where the granary currently sits and the tugboats are docked. This vote was passed by both the the planning commission (two committee members voted no) and the city council (unanimous) even though the constituents were vocally opposed. Multiple meetings finished in closed sessions, and the public was uninformed of what was happening.

Sturgeon Bay is a tourist town, and people come here in part for the waterfront, the beautiful working waterfront. We need to preserve that and not stick an ugly building on the edge blocking the view.

Government and politics are weird things, seeing as they are supposed to help us achieve our goals as a community, yet sometimes the people in charge don't listen to the ones they are serving. We need to stand up for our rights and be heard!

The Month by iPhone :: December 2014

ah, December. it was a wonderful end to this crazy year. for the most part, it was pretty snowless, which was weird! here are some little moments from the month.

getting excited to use my 2015 May Books planner!

homemade hot chocolate in a pretty teacup! (: {that apple maple bourbon candle in the background smells amazing}

full fuel.

first time lighting a candle at home.

cleaning and loving the colors.

I love this ET ornament on my aunt and uncle's Christmas tree. it's made of felt, and I think she said that her grandma or great aunt made it in the 1980s! it's in such perfect shape.

I found it funny that the least popular flavor of tea at the motel is Sweet Dreams. all of the other slots have at least three different flavors, but we have so many of the Sweet Dreams, which is a chamomile mint.

funny finds at church.

if I knew where to hang it, I would so adopt this dog. {Walter's Dogs by Walter Salas-Humara}

my favorite part of working with the preschoolers is picking out the books to read. I am loving every Oliver Jeffers book. his illustrations are incredible, and the stories are great too.

51/52 2014

another average week with working and working, but I got to go to a concert on Friday night, and I had Monday off from both jobs. I ran errands that day and got a lot done at home too, including baking and wrapping Christmas presents. my sister got married out in Washington, and my mom and I got to FaceTime in to see it happen.

Wednesday 17 December // day three hundred fifty-one :: ready for the last classes of the session before Christmas! our books for the day were: If You Take a Mouse to the Movies, Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Christmas, Pete the Cat Saves Christmas, and Olivia Helps with Christmas. my socks are from Target (;

Thursday 18 December // day three hundred fifty-two :: I sometimes like to leave my shoes by the heater to warm up and dry off!

Friday 19 December // day three hundred fifty-three :: such a very special night getting to see a pat mAcdonald solo acoustic show! {and yes, Ruby is wearing a red and leopard print Santa hat!}

Saturday 20 December // day three hundred fifty-four :: all I really wanted for Christmas was this blanket, because I was too cheap to spend the $40 on it and I wasn't brave enough to go to Target on Thanksgiving evening after leaving family stuff to get it for $20. thanks to my sister and her boyfriend, it's now on my bed. (:

Sunday 21 December // day three hundred fifty-five :: a joke Christmas present from one of my friends. I don't even know how it came up, but I had been complaining to her about how my grandma used to always get books about Native Americans for me for my birthday and Christmas, and I so wasn't into it. Susan says that this book is good. {and you know I love showing off my socks}

Monday 22 December // day three hundred fifty-six :: Disney Princess soup for lunch because yes.

Tuesday 23 December // day three hundred fifty-seven :: I love children's books, and I love Oliver Jeffers' illustrations! and look, I went to a different (worse lit) part of my apartment so that it wasn't the same background as two other pictures this week. haha.

xoxo.
